I used to love working in a study carrell when I was in school. Having a quiet little cave of my own really helped me to focus and concentrate. In my own classroom, I've primarily thought about their use during assessments with my kids. For years I've simply had my students put up "privacy binders", vs. purchasing something designed for this purpose:
Then along came Smilemakers, who generously allowed me to test out their Privacy Boards (click the image to get to their site):
Here's why I must, must, must have a full class set:
- I love these because they are white. Who cares? After creating a unified, serene color scheme in my classroom, I do. Plan? Decorate them to match the rest of the room. Reality? Haven't had time yet. But that doesn't mean I haven't been using them.
- My students beg for them. I know we need them to cooperate and collaborate--such important skills. However, I'm completely floored by how my most easly distracted kids ask me if they can use them all the time. They are starting to know themselves--huzzah! If it makes you ore productive? Yes x1,000.
- They are only $9.99 for a set of 4. I only have 19 students this year, so I will be getting more for sure.
Thank you so, so much to Smilemakers for sharing these with me. When I slow down for 5 minutes and have time, you can bet that these will be covered in some sort of blue and lime lovliness. I have some groovy duct tape set aside already...
