Ahh, relaxing, yes? Well, that was last fall. You can take a look at that setup in this post. Things are looking a little less polished in my classroom right now. Let me treat you to the current state of affairs in there with a couple of my favorite "before" shots...
Apparently the heating unit leaked over the summer. Fortunately, nothing but the industrial carpeting was damaged, but when it will be put back together is anyone's guess:
I especially love the jumble of dirty wires left in front of the computers circa 1975, don't you? If the tech team doesn't make it before the first day, I will find a way to use untangling them as a team-building activity. I am nothing if not resourceful, people:
The bright spot in this mess is that I got someplace with my room setup yesterday. Not far, but someplace. Behold, my new cursive alphabet from the lovely Kristen at Ladybug's Teacher Files. She is my classroom decor idol. :
Yes, my bulletin boards are looking rough. While I wait for my backordered borders to arrive (these from Creative Teaching Press), I will have to look at the rough edges of paper. They were ordered for me by our school secretary in early July and are now backordered until early September (aargh!), so you may see me cave and put something else up that I can get sooner. We'll see. It can only get better from here.
Stay tuned for the "after" pics next week. While I didn't change too, too much this year, I do have some new IKEA storage lovelies and a handful of tweaks here and there to share once it's all complete!
