I am so sad for all that has happened today. As a parent, I don't even know what to say. We will hold our little ones just a little more closely tonight. As a teacher, I can't imagine the rhythm of our day--children laughing, learning, reading, getting a drink at the water fountain, singing, writing, painting, playing instruments, solving math problems, delivering a note--so swiftly turning from all that is simple and ordinary and wonderful, to something else altogether. As a colleague, it's unimaginable to me what these teachers went through today.
My heart goes out to all of the victims of this tragedy.
Well said. As I walked down the hall after school I couldn't help thinking how quickly the secure feeling of a school could change.
